Radical Attention: Speed Dating
Choreographed encounter / Performance
Gropius Bau Berlin
with Julia Grosse
Curating a session of "choreographed encounters" designed to foster radical attention between strangers in the post-pandemic context. Developed for the Gropius Bau together with julia Grosse within the context of “Ámà: 4 Days on Caring, Repairing and Healing”, this project utilized the format of speed dating to trigger one-to-one conversations that dissolved social hierarchies. Taking inspiration from Julia Bell’s book Radical Attention (2020), the curation responded to the virtualization of the body and the narrowing of social radii during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event acknowledged the museum not just as a site for viewing art, but as an organic space for embodied exchange and mutual recognition. Participants were invited into the Gropius Bau Atrium to engage in several timed conversations, guided by the central questions: "How are you? How are we?"
